The Owner/Trainer of Dragon City Driver Training has substantial driving experience and has been well trained by the experts - Victoria Police.
Greg Penno served with Victoria Police for 23 years before commencing his business in 1994.
Within the Police Force Greg completed the Standard Car Course, five weeks of training full time, Pursuit Driving Course, two weeks of training full time, and the Motor Cycle Training Course, four weeks of training full time.

Greg joined Victoria Police in 1971 and during the course of his service Greg spent 5 years working within the Traffic Management role performing duties in both Country Victoria, Bendigo, Inglewood Heathcote and, within the Melbourne metropolitan area Melbourne City, Collingwood, Brunswick, Brunswick Mobile Traffic Section, rostered doing Uniform duties and patrolling in both pursuit vehicles and motor cycle patrols in both areas. In 1983 Greg was promoted to Sergeant and spent two years performing Uniform and Supervision duties at Fitzroy Police Station before returning to Bendigo in 1985.
During this period Greg worked only in Uniform and Highway patrol duties and retired at the Rank of Sergeant in 1994.
In 1993 Greg Completed an Associate Diploma in Administration (Business) at La Trobe University Bendigo, and has completed several units in the Graduate Diploma of Management at this same institution, as they relate to his business.
Dragon City Driver Training will conduct Low Risk Driving and Safety Awareness Assessments for Business. Areas of Assessment are:
Pre- Drive.
Check vehicle (and Trailer) for damage including tyres, glass area lenses
Check boot rear compartment for spare tyre condition and tools. Luggage storing and restricted
Posture and seat adjustment, mirrors for blind spots, seat belt position, instruments and controls.
Review mobile phone policy and safety proceedures.
Observation and Scanning.
Start vehicle, check hand position on wheel.
360 degree scan - ahead, behind and both sides of vehicle when driving and stopped (checking for vehicles pedestrians and obstacles.
Checks rear and side mirrors every 4 to 8 seconds while driving.
On Road (including trailer where applicable)
Reacts early to hazards by covering brake or changing lanes.
Efficient and smooth gear use (manual vehicle)
Maintains 3 second following distance…
Increases to 4 to 8 seconds in bad weather or adverse road conditions.
Decreases speed to compensate for tailgaters
Drops back if another car cuts in
Signals intention to turn well in advance (at least 3 seconds)
Smooth acceleration, braking and speed management
Brake ready – use and stopping position in relation to the vehicle in front. (Able to see the car tyres of the car in front where they touch the road)
When turning right, waits to turn wheel until all cross traffic has cleared.
Assess left and right turns and safe lane changes (including multi lanes where applicable)
Slows, checks cross traffic, covers brake before passing through intersections.
Stops at stop signs, complies with traffic lights (waits 2 seconds after green light) and slows at Give Way signs.
Observes speed limits and maintains headway to suit road and weather conditions.
Assess lane position on marked and unmarked roads.
Correct interpretation of road law including pedestrian and school crossings, T intersections, roundabouts and one way streets.
Freeway driving (where applicable).
Tram lines, and position for turning.
Low Speed Manouvres
“U” turns, 3 point turns, parking and retrieval of vehicle (angle, parallel and reverse parking, trailer parking where applicable.
Temperment
Drivers suitable temperament and co-operation on the road.
Awareness of fatigue.
